Mental Health Organizations & Resources FOR the Music Industry

Here at the Department of Sound, we want to ensure music educators and students are aware of the ample mental health resources available. Below we have listed some mental health organizations to help guide individuals through difficult times while navigating the music industry.

Backline
  • Backline connects musicians to mental health and wellness resources by streamlining individuals and families to trusted organizations that understand their line of work and challenges.

  • Talk with a Case Manager to start developing a plan of action.

Tour Support
  • Tour Support, a division of LightHopeLife, aims to offer mental health support for musicians on tour. Many musicians living on the road need support to cope with changes and adjustments with their return home.

  • With the lack of musician tours due to COVID-19, Tour Support has transitioned to online and working with musicians out of work or with canceled tours.

Music Minds Matter
  • Music Minds Matter supports musicians with mental health resources and hotlines.

  • The organization offers Mental Wellness Meetups on Zoom for those involved in the music scene to express with others their challenges and successes.

MusiCares
  • MusiCares offers critical assistance for music people in need, focusing on three categories: financial assistance, addiction recovery, and health programs.

Silence the Shame
  • Silence the Shame focuses on education and awareness of mental health. Programs and initiatives consist of crisis response training, community conversations, wellness training, digital content, and outreach events.
