Types Of Collaborations With Fellow Artists And Tips For Maximizing Them

Collaborating with fellow artists can be an awesome tool to use for a couple of reasons. One, it offers artists a fresh take on their creative side, provoking new ideas by riffing with fellow artists. Two, it offers a chance for both artists to gain wider attention from audiences through the cross-exposure of platforms.

CO-WRITE A SONG

A fun and dynamic way to collaborate on a song is to sit down with a fellow artist and think of ways to combine each other’s unique capabilities. Maybe one knows how to create a strong chord progression, and the other has some song lyrics that could go along with it.

TIP:

  • Avoid attaching too much of a bias to your own music. Instead, be open to alternative suggestions to come up with a new and fresh combination of each others strengths

  • Come prepared with ideas

CREATE A MULTI-ARTIST PLAYLIST IN SPOTIFY

Collaborate on a playlist that combines songs from both you and your fellow artists. This will let in a new flow of traffic for both artists and increase the likelihood that they will look up more of your independent music.

TIP

  • Post on your social media accounts about the upcoming release

  • Post a brief description of yourself, providing your audience with the opportunity to learn more about you

DO AN INSTAGRAM LIVE TOGETHER

This is an easy way to let each other connect with each other's digital audiences. Consider doing a video stream where you interview each other, followed by a vibe sesh listening to new debut songs from each other.

TIP

  • Market on social media when the live session will commence

  • Ask the audience to come up with Q+A  questions for the featured artist
